    Wireless Comms: negates the need for surveyors to come back into the office to synchronise the PDA, by submitting results remotely, thereby optimising time spent in the field.  

    GPS: capture and assign GPS coordinates to transects, which can be made available to a mapping system

    Photo: enables surveyors to capture more detailed information about a transect.  A photo is useful for providing evidence to support inspection grading and for follow up purposes as transects can be flagged to indicate further action is required.
